Benedict Cumberbatch as the Great Alan Turing in “The Imitation Game” [Trailer]

Alan Turing was in many ways the father of modern computer science. To this day, the standard test for artificial intelligence is the Turing Test. He saved countless lives by cracking the German Enigma Code during WWII. And yet he was persecuted and striped of all recognition for his accomplishments because he was gay (a crime in Great Britain at the time).

Benedict Cumberbatch stars in this new Turning biopic, which appears to focus mainly on Enigma. I hope they do him justice. The cast looks pretty great. Aside from Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game also stars Keira Knightly, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, and Charles Dance (A Game of Thrones‘ Tywin Lannister), and is helmed by relatively unknown (here, at least) Norwegian director Morten Tyldum.
